Analysing conversations Meanings: Watch the clip. Ask yourself - what do I think of the characters? Who is the most dominant? Who thinks they have 'won' the conversation? Watch the clip again. When does power shift happen? What dialogue is used? Look at the shapes within the composition of the shots - have angles changed? Who fills the frame? Who spends longer on screen? Who seems big? Who seems less significance? Do these changes in the composition you have identified match with power shift in the conversation? Silence of the Lambs Analysis: Character analysis: Clarice : Hesitant Nervous - through her facial expressions Scared Desperate New Willing Hannibal : Certified Confident Knows what he’s talking about Untrustworthy (to clarice) Prevaricate Provocative Scary Most dominant: At one point in the clip, a high angle/group shot/long shot of claire and Hannibal is shown, where Hannibal is ...

JURASSIC PARK JELLY SCENE REMAKE Find three shots you are proud of and match the clip well. The first shot is the shot in which the girl is violently shaking the glass as she sees the dinosaur’s shadow from behind. This shot is one of the best shots out of the whole clip, simply because we used a slider to firstly, display the girl’s facial expressions before it matches-on-action, of the glass being violently shaken. It’s a nice shot as it effectively displays everything that happens from the time she sees the dinosaur, to her rapid movements - all in sequence, therefore it’s natural. The second shot is the shot in which the dinosaur is looking into the small window to see the children. This shot was effective as it is almost a perfect replica of the original. The shot displays the eye and the bright light shining on it (through the bottle being sprayed on the glass). This shot matches the clip quite well. The last shot I am proud of is the shot where the young boy tu...

THE CONVERSATION The challenge was to create a power conversational scene between 2 people. Our group decided to do a scene in which a student was visiting the headmaster due to their bad grades and behavioural problems. We firstly decided to understand what the headmaster and the students characters would be like, before we started drafting anything else. The headmaster was to be a strict and organised character, which needed to be evidently shown in our scene. The student was to be a careless and unbothered character, which we did display through their body language and expressions. These first ideas were used. We were also thinking about perhaps having a person talking about their opinions on something or a topic but didn't want to have an opinionated conversation that wasn't go to effectively display the power shift. Analysis of 5 key frames: 1. Student behind the teacher, awaiting for him to acknowledge their presence. This is the first frame I chose because...
