Production Day - Hitchcock’s film techniques
Production day:
For production day, we experimented with Hitchcock’s most famous film techniques frequently used in his films.
We were challenged to use his techniques: extreme close-ups and close-ups in Psycho (1960), ambient green lighting and silhouettes in Vertigo (1958), representation of characters, moving close-ups, tracking-walking shot in Frenzy (1972), and the infamous axial cut and montage in Psycho.
All of his movies feature the thriller/psychological horror genre.
We spent the whole day experimenting and putting his techniques into effective use. We also learned how to get to grips with the camera and how to confidently use the camera to produce the outcomes mentioned above.
Overall, the shots came out pretty well and we found different ways of changing the lighting or changing the silhouettes to perfectly match that of Hitchcock’s.
