Psychological thriller:

 

  • Psychological thriller is a genre combining the thriller and psychological fiction genres.
  • It is commonly used to describe films that deal with psychological narratives in a thriller or thrilling setting.

Narrative:

 

  •  Action is suppressed and the 'thrill' factors are provided instead via investigations of the psychologies of the principal characters. 
  • Emphasises the unstable psychological states of its characters. The conflict takes place primarily in the mind of the protagonist. The audience need to vicariously (when the audience know more than the characters) see the world through the eyes of the main character.

Action thriller: 

An Action Thriller uses physical action to create suspense within the film. Like a traditional Action film, this sub-genre will often have continuous motion and action including physical stunts, chases, fights, battles, and races. Often, these scenes will contribute to the overall sense of danger that the protagonist is facing.

Narrative:

  • Problem encountered in a big/major city, in which the protagonists have to seemingly defeat the antagonist and their crew/members

Mystery thriller:

A mystery film is a genre of film that revolves around the solution of a problem or a crime. It focuses on the efforts of the detective, private investigator or amateur sleuth to solve the mysterious circumstances of an issue by means of clues, investigation, and clever deduction. (Wikipedia)

  • Fragments of information 
  • Curiosity  - audience don’t have a lot of information available

Supernatural thriller:

A Supernatural thriller is a subgenre that blends supernatural, paranormal, or otherworldly elements with a traditional suspense-driven plot. Often one of the main characters will have a supernatural power.
